Embassy of Libya Opens Its Door to the Public for the Around the World Embassy Tour

 May 01, 2022

On Saturday, May 7th, 2022, Charge d’Affaires Khaled Daief and Embassy staff participated in the Passport DC Around the World Embassy Tour. The Embassy showcased unique Libyan artifacts, traditional clothing, and delicious foods to over a thousand visitors at Dennard Plaza.

Passport DC runs from May 1 through 32 and offers an outstanding array of cultural activities presented at embassy open houses, street festivals, performing art venues, museums, and special receptions throughout the district. In conjunction with the festival, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared May 2022 as “International Cultural Awareness Month” to celebrate the diversity of cultural influences in the District.

“This event is more important now than ever as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic and facing the current state of international affairs,” said Steve Shulman, Executive Director of Cultural Tourism DC. “My hope is for Passport DC to help remind everyone that we are more alike than different, despite the multitude of cultures and beliefs.”

The Embassy would like to express its profound thanks and appreciation to Passport DC for putting on this spectacular festival and the public for joining us to celebrate.
