On March 22nd, 2022, Charge d’Affaires Khaled Al-Daief and Embassy staff hosted Middle East Policy Council President Richard J. Schmierer and Executive Director Bassima Alghussein. In their meeting, they discussed the work that the MEPC does to provide quality research and analysis on economic, political, and cultural issues concerning the relationship between the United States and the Middle East.
Moreover, they discussed the way the MEPC can help foster relationships between the Embassy, U.S. policymakers, and other NGOs in Washington, D.C. For example, the Libya Stabilization was recently referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations in the U.S. Senate and Ms. Alghussein provided informative insight into action steps that the Embassy can take to effectively support this legislation in the Senate.
The Embassy looks forward to working with the MEPC to strengthen its relationship with the foreign policy field in Washington and to educate relevant organizations on the concerns of the State of Libya.
