Foreign Minister meets with experts from the Libyan Department of Antiquities

In the framework of preserving Libyan Historical, Cultural and Archeological treasures, the foreign Minister of Libya Mr. Mohamed Syala met on August 20, 2017 with experts and advisors from the Department of Libyan Antiquities to address the serious situation of pillage, trafficking and trading of stolen Libyan objects in foreign markets. He stressed that the Libyan state and Government of National Accord is determined to end and deter this phenomenon that have been used by criminal and terrorist groups to finance their operations. He also made a reference to confiscation by the Spanish police of stolen Libyan archeological items that will be returned to the Libyan authorities. Libya is partnering with other foreign instructions and states to impose import restrictions and has taken many aggressive measures to protect its cultural patrimony.
